College Essay

Steps to Write Your College Essay

Respond to the prompt concisely.  Remember to show; don't tell.  Use examples.  NO 2nd person...this is your college essay, use I.  The admission offices are trying to determine if you are a good fit for their schools and if you have writing skills.  Show off your talents!  😊

Choosing a topic

I recommend you use a prompt from the college to which you will likely apply.  Check your dream school's website for the essay topic.

If you are unsure, use one prompt from the 2024-25 Common App.
