Book Club --> Coming of Age
Choose one of the following books to read and to participate in a book club. You will work with others who have chosen the same book. You will create a reading schedule, discuss and work together, and test. Plus, you will blog with ALL students in Junior English who have chosen the same book.
All of the books deal with the theme of Coming of Age. These books follow the development of a child or adolescent into adulthood. The young protagonist - male or female- undergoes a troubled search or quest for an adult identity by through trials, experiences, and/or revelations. Also known as bildungsroman.

What kinds of adversity do people sometimes cause for themselves?
How do friends help with growing up?
Why does "growing up" require understanding or experiencing difficult things?
What are the elements of the Bildungsroman (coming-of-age stories), and how does this novel reflect those elements?
